America’s foodways have helped shape this nation. What we eat and how we eat it reflects this country’s diverse cultures, needs, technologies and economies. The goal of The American Table is to rediscover and reenergize American food traditions. This is an invitation to delve into our past, play around a bit, and learn something about how we got to be where we are today.
The American Table is a labor of love, fueled by a desire to learn more about what I eat, and how I came to eat what I eat (or why I no longer eat what others used to eat). I write and share this information with the hope and belief that I’m not alone and others will find this project interesting.
Since the first post on October 31, 2011, The American Table has become a popular destination for food exploration, with tens of thousands of site visits monthly. While the site continues to grow, I invite you to pull a chair up to the table and say hello.
